Newbie needs help,danger novice at work!

Just got me a FX 50 Freecom Recorder. I am using XP Pro and Alcohol or Nero 6. The bloody thing refuses to burn the compiled DVD image!!! I have tried differant media (it fails to recognise DVD RW) DVD - . It keeps telling me that there is an error writing back to dvd?? The image is there but it will not copy across to disc. Please tell me what I am doing wrong. You may have guessed I am new to this!!

1) Have you tried using the burning software that came with the drive (Roxio Easy CD Creator), before installing NERO?

2) You should be aware that there are serious conflicts between the Roxio software and NERO. If you have both installed on your system, you might want to uninstall the Roxio software, reboot, and then try using NERO

3) If you are using NERO v.6.0.0, immediately get the most recent update (v.6.0.19 or higher), as the initial 6.0.0 is flawed
