    back-ups play in anything but Apex players

    I have an NEC 1000 DVD+RW drive and Verbatim DVD+R disks. When I burn a back up of my DVD I can play it in any dvd player I run across except Apex. It works in playstation 2 and X-box but not in Apex players. What am I doing wrong?

    1) Have you played it in any standalone players besides one Apex?

    2) Did you burn a DVD-R or DVD+R?

    3) Do you know, with certainty, that your Apex is capable of playing burned DVDs? burned DVD+Rs? burned DVD-Rs? the specific BRAND of media?

    To determine the capabilities/limitations of your specific brand and model of standalone DVD player, go to:

      I've played them in a pioneer, a sony, and a samsung and they worked just fine.

      I've used Verbatim DataLifePlus and Fujifilm. Both are DVD+R.

      I've burned other non-shrunk movies with the same drive on the same media and played them just fine in my Apex ad5131 stand alone player.

        Hi;
        I have an Apex 500 and an Apex 2500. Both of these players play my burnt DVD-R's without any problem. I haven't tried DVD+R yet but will to see how it works. Like setarip stated it could be the +R or the brand of media. ps DVD-RW also played without ne problems. Let me know on your success as I have 2 Apex DVD players. thanx

          EXACTLY what happens when you try to play this specific DVD+R in your Apex? Does it recognize the DVD, but not play it, or does it not "see" a DVD at all?

          You might want to try using a DVD/CD cleaning disk on your Apex. Maxell makes one that retails for approximately $10US.

          You might also try burning another copy - to determine if your Apex has a problem with that SPECIFIC single DVD+R that you first burned...

            i think apex players have problems recognizing +R discs even though it says they play them cause i have an apex ad 1200 and it doesnt play the +R discs but my ps2 does. so i buy the +RW discs now and my apex plays them fine but they cost a little more

              I've solved the problem. I had to adjust the settings in ImgTool to write in DVD-ROM Booktype. Now the DVD's that I burn play just fine on everything. Thanks for the help anyway.
