    Why make iso image file?

I was curious why all the guides recomend using ImgTool and make an image file for DVDs. I just made a DVD by creating VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders on my DVD with all of the vob and ifo/bup files and it plays fine.

    Thanks in advance

Not "all" guides - Only those that are based exclusively on using freeware programs...

Does it make any difference making a ISO image?

There is no difference in the resultant burned DVD. Burning your "VIDEO_TS" and "AUDIO_TS" folders will yield the identical result of burning an .ISO containing the same information...

If you want a set structure on a CD/DVD create and ISO image and it will "remember" the layout you specify.

This is really not important for DVD creation.
Also, ensure the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS are uppercase.
