Backup playing in black and white

    Hi Guys,
Tried to back up a couple of my dvds and they play back in a stand alone dvd player in black and white but others are in colour. What could be the fix???

This is going to sound really silly - but I do get caught out with this sometimes and am therefore ready for it when it happens on my system:
Has your tv changed AV channel? Mine goes monochrome on one of the other channels even though dvd stream switched in.

Ok, ok - I'll go stand in the corner
This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!

but it works on one then the other its black and white.
Just seems to be the copy. Plays okay of mine but not on my mates dvd player however others work without a problem.

Same machine, same media - some are colour, some monochrome?
I notice you use Princo - could it just be borderline quality media?
I've only tried one batch here but the first four disks out resolutely refuse to work, yet other folk say Princo Orange work with NEC 1300 .. and I've upped the firmware

your earlier copies still run in colour on mates machine? - thinking here sounding even more stupid but could your mates laser be fading?

Is it possible that your mates machine doesn't play certain formats, i.e. PAL ,NTSC. Just a thought

thinking maybe they might of changed it. Knowing that one previously played on it which was NTSC and now it dont.

                  Blackghost,
Going up a couple of answers, it looks like there is a problem between PAL and NTSC. On your DVD player, can you put the video into Auto, so it will switch between PAL and NTSC, what are the results like on the PC, i.e. does the disc play in colour on that?
