    Someone please help please...

Ok, I am new with this whole burning of DVDs so bare with me. I am using Nero Express. I visisted there website and got a "How to Guide" How to Guide But when I follow the freaking thing it doesn't work.

I open up Nero Express click on Disc Image or Saved Project, following the "How to Guide" but rather then Nero going to the next screen which should be "Select source and destination window" it pops up with "Open" and wants me to open a file or something. Yea, and I haven't gotten past that point

Can someone can please help me out here? Thanks.

Need more info. I think the message is telling you to specify the file that has the movie you want to burn.

What kind of files are you trying to burn to DVD and how did you create them?

when you say you are new to this, how new is new?

are you trying to copy an original straight to a blank?

ok - i see you referenced a nero burning guide in the first post.

You need to start reading up. You have to rip the movie off the original first then make the copy onto the DVD-R.

The easiest thing to do is get DVDShrink and have it do rip and prepare it to burn.

Use nero express to specify a DVD-Video then copy all the files created by DVDshrink into the VIDEO_TS folder in Nero. Burn that and it should play back.

The guides at Doom9 are good as well as www.mrbass.org

                      ToFreedom,

You should be able to get all the info you need right from this site..
What I suggest, and it's an easy method, is to download dvd shrink 3.16, IMGTool .91.1 from couje.de, and DVD Decrpypter 3.1.90...

What you do is "shrink" your files using dvd shrink, then you can use IMGTool to create an .iso file, and then it will automatically burn using decrypter.
Nero has had a lot of problems burning succesfully, but the above mentioned is an easy and effective way to burn a dvd..

Please let us know how you make out, and good luck!!

Why make it more complicated than it needs to be? DVDShrink will burn the files right to folders on HD. You can even tell it if you want VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders. No need to generate an .ISO file before burning. And I don't know what you mean about Nero. It's probably the most reliable burning app out there. I've never had any trouble with it in the two years of steady, daily use I've put it through, and there are countless others who have the same experience with it.
                          Cheers!

well, from a lot of the posts i have read here, there have been a lot of problems with people trying to burn using nero.. I have had different versions of nero, and tried different media, and I still couldn't get a good disc..Yet I used the programs I mentioned, and it has burnt successfully every time, so maybe before you criticize me for having a different opinion, maybe you should let other people make up their own mind.

How often do you see a post regarding someone having problems burning using, shrink, imgtool, and decrypter combined, hardly ever....AND how many are there a day about nero, more than enough!

I use nero to burn all my regular data cd's, with great success, but not for video..

                              Very Good News :

The new DVDShrink v. 3.1.7 Beta 4 and Beta 5 has the ISO file output bug fixed (you can now have the shrunk files ready to burn with DVDDecrypter). All you have to do is click 'Shrink's Back-up" button, then on select target device (of pop-up), click the ISo file, instead of hdd files. An ISO image will be then be made and you can then burn with DVDDecrypter. (saves time of when used CLASSIC, but, I still keep CLASSIC for other use, too)

If you want 'Shrink to "automatically" burn with DVDDecrypter, then select that box in 'Shrink's pop-up. You need DVDDecrypter v. 3.2.0.0 installed for the automatic urning. It works very good and is all freeware ! I've already done more than 40 burns with the ISO files of the Beta 4, and it has worked, flawlessly

On XP (and NT and 2000) O.S., you can use the XP's SPTI as the burning layer (no need for an aspi layer). On 98, download "force aspi" from radified.com, install and re-boot (to install aspi correctly).
