I am using a TDK 840G 8x burner. This drive is actually a plextor drive (708a?) rebadged by TDK. The drive is capable of reading at 12x or higher I believe for dvd, however, I have read online that they made it cap at reading at 2x for movie discs.
Does anyone have experience with this burner and know how to speed reading?
I am using the latest firmware, and using DMA mode 2, not PIO.
I read online about holding eject until the led blinks 3 times, which is supposed to enable the disc to be read faster, however for me this has not seemed to affect read speeds noticably.
Any ideas are appreciated, or even verification that there is nothing that can be done. I love the drive for burning, has been great to me at 8x.
