About 9-DVD's

I was wondering if it is possible to burn a 7 gigas movie into a blank 9-DVD ? thus I won't use Shrink or split up into two blank 5-DVD's

Yes - If you have BOTH a burner capable of burning DVD-9s and blank DVD-9 burnable media...

2) Burners and/or firmware upgrades are scheduled to arrive in April

Most burners are not scheduled for April. I bet most will be out by June / July at the earliest.

I am keeping an eye on the Ricoh one which should be out in the Summer.

You'll have to wait to see (as I mentioned earlier), if NEC comes out with a firmware update for your model that will enable burning of double-layer DVDs...
