if movie is on a dvd,,first must have a dvd burner,,,,then burnable dvd media,,,then a burning program like nero,,then a program like dvdshrink..
http://www.dvdshrink.info/index.php...get it here and read the guides....tear out hair,,post,,search,,read forums and replies and learn..
first go to the guides from the shrink link and read them all for the easiest way to start..good luck..am sure others will reply with thier opinions also worth listening to,,prob more than mine..
    good luck..

Disney movies are the hardest but do able. On this fourm is a section for DVDShrink, it's a free program that has many people willing to help, as well as links to free rippers, burning engines, and most important "user guides". Like ronco stated we asume your trying to back up org. dvd's on a computer so you will need a dvd burner in your computer. Before you go out and buy whatever your local store is pushing today go to the DVD Shrink fourm and spend sometime reading and ask a few questions yourself. I have yet to find a dvd that could not be copied and I too have grandbabies that go through dvds like candy.

        To rustyrail:

I would strongly suggest that you "Rip" the movie(s) to your HD first with a program such as "DVD Decrypter" or "SmartRipper". Then use DVD Shrink to open the files from the hard drive in order to compress-if needed-to fit onto one DVD (r, rw) disk.

something you may wish to do to start with is look up your player in www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers for what brands of media will work in your player. You can use the site also for looking up compatibility with any prospective burner you're considering.

            DVD Back up

I have: CloneDVD Version 2.3, DVD Decryptor V 3.2.0, Any DVD V 3.3.2.1, DVD X Copy Platinum for copy/rippers. Computer P4, 512mb, Win Home, 80 mb HD. I can copy anything if I can rip it. Tried DVD Shrink but wouldn't rip either. I need a program or tested method that works.

so,,you need a program or tested method that works...
hmm,,i tested dvd shrink again today for the 156th time...
and many disney movies ...what one you having a problem with.??
ONE time i had to use DVD decrypter to rip one shrink wouldnt..
when you say they wont "rip"do you meen you cant get them to the hard drive or cant make a copy that will play in your set top player.?..can you play the "rip" in puter in like "power dvd ".?
if you use decrypter go for ALL files and then open in shrink..
easiest is just use shrink for everything..
have you had success with any other backups ??
only have failures on disney movies.??
have you tried more than one disney movie.?
are you getting an error message.?
did you get ANYTHING to your hard drive ??
              if you did what ??
if you did do you know how to open it in a software player.?
if you are new at this the shrink program and guides are the best
              for beginners...
if you have "ripped" and backed up many movies with no problems ,and only having probs with disney,,or with just one disney,,,clean the dvd..look at it and see if it is scratch free,,,
i have some i cant backup because the original will play in settop fine but the ripping program cant get a clean read..
whew.!!..long winded i know,,,,but if you can rip one you should be able to rip all..
ok everybody else,,lets get him going !!
              read,,post listen,,learn ,tear hair out,,read guides..
              good luck,let us know..

Copied many movies with no problems. Some had minor scratches. Disney is only one having problems with.

have you tried DVD Decrypter with 'all files' set in options/startup?
Do you have a DVD-ROM and burner? Ifso, have you tried ripping in each?
