    Smartripper??

    Hi,
    I'm new to the forum.
I just got smart ripper and DVDDecrypter and am having problems.
With Smart ripper I go through and some files are selected (checked) already when I open that window. so I press start and in 19 hours it says it will be done. I left it going all night once and it still wasn't done. Is this normal ripping time??? I can't imagine that it is. Also I'm not sur which files to select if more than what the program already has selected for me. Also when I run the program, It tells me that some files are locked and asks me to either "ignore-retry or stop" or something along those lines.

DVD Decrypter won't see the movie or the device so I'm not sure what's up with that anyway.

    Any Help would be great,

    Chris

Normal ripping time is 15 to 20 minutes for most DVD's. You need to select all files and transfer to the hard disk on the PC.

BTW, I prefer DVD Decrypter. Shrink needs all files selected in file mode and then copied to the hard disk. The time taken should be the same.

Try cleaning the DVD that you're attempting to rip...

        O.k.,

Thanks for the help. I got smart ripper to work and rip.
I needed to play the movie a few seconds to fix something.
        Ripping took only 10 minutes!!

Now my problem is compression and converting.

I tried using flask last night to convert the movie and again this
morning it was still doing it. so 8-81/2 hours.
Is this normal or am I missing the boat again?

I guess you guys will help me fix this and then I'll be goin" why is it taking so long to burn?"

Maybe someone could run through the whole process beginning to end for me. rip, compress and burn. free software favouites and amounts of time for each process to complete.

        Thanks again,

        Chris

Just use DVD Shrink to compress. If you write to a ISO file, DVD decrypter can the burn it for you.

It will even rip for you as well.
