    Burning video files...

I've got several television episodes downloaded on my hard drive and I was wanting to burn them to disk. However, the file sizes are such that I can only burn two episodes at a time on one CD. There are 16 AVI video files. Is there any way to shrink them?

Does anyone have any suggestions at all?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Amy

You could try re-encoding them at a lower bitrate, using VirtualDub or one of its variants, though you'll lose quality.

You could convert them to mpeg 2 using "TMPGEnc" (different from TMPGEnc DVD Author). Use the "Project Wizard" DVD template to accomplish the task. Then use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" (different from the regular TMPGEnc) to author the newly created DVD compliant mpeg 2 files into a DVD file structure. After that, you can use DVD Shrink to compress the DVD project to fit onto a single DVD (r, rw) disk, hopefully with little or no loss in video quality.

Good advice, Ormonde. I was assuming the poster wanted to burn them on CDs, not DVDs, but for DVDs I concur with you.

You probably assumed correctly, but if the poster wanted to burn to CD, as long as the AVIs are converted to mpeg format, you could make a VCD, SVCD, and burn to CD with Nero. Actually, you could even use Nero to make a "Mini DVD" (To: btrflismile-that is a DVD file structure that will fit on a CD, but functions like a DVD).
