1. Will a regular rented DVD copy onto one blank 4.7GB DVD-R?
2. If question #1 isn't yes will they burn on a 8.5GB DVD-R?
3. Where can you buy 8.5GB disks?
4. Are 8.5GB disks the two layered disks?
5. Do I need a special burner to burn two layered disks?
6. Is DVD copying as easy as copying a CD?

yes it will fit to one DVD 4.7 gig DVD-R you will have to shrink it first though try pinnacle out or even shrink pinnacle takes longer but is the better compression

Will the shrinked version still have the same quality?

No the backup copy will not have the same quality as the original
but like I said the best compression is with Pinnacle but is very slow it will take about 4hrs in all thats to rip,compress,&burn but you can get the whole Dvd to one 4.7 gig Dvd if you need any help on how to get it done just give me a shout !!!!!!!!!!
