What Am I Doing Wrong ?

    Hi,
    Hoping someone can help here.

Used DVDShrink reauthor and burned DVD using Pioneer 107DVD-RW .... I think it was burned at max speed.
The DVD played great in the pc but would not play on DVD player....... not my daughters or mine.
We then burned another DVD on different media, again same problem.. wouldn't play on the DVD player.

I brought the DVD media home with me and copied the movie onto my hard drive. I then burned it with my Pioneer 105 DVD-RW
with a Re-recordable DVD media (no cheapie) again, same thing.

I noticed that when I insert DVD into pc drive, instead of movie opening into PowerDVD it opens as a file showing the Audio TS and Video TS folders.

I've burned DVDs before using same method and they play in my DVD and daughter's DVD player no problem... until now.

I even downloaded DVD Decrypter .... and I seem to be having lots of problems with that too!!

I also downloaded Burnatonce - there's no facility to burn a DVD..... I looked on the Shrink Info website where it gave instructions about Burnatonce, but the picture shown isn't like what I downloaded.

I feel a bit lost and dumb here ..... my problem I don't know enough about the hardware and software or media to use.

The software used for burning is Pioneer Record NowDX by Veritas.

Hope someone can guide me in right direction.

"I think it was burned at max speed"

Try burning at a lower speed such as 2x.

"The software used for burning is Pioneer Record NowDX by Veritas."

With RecordNow, you have to "Manually" make the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders. Make sure ALL the DVD-related files are in the VIDEO_TS folder. The AUDIO_TS folder will be empty. Then go and select both "Folders" in RecordNow. This process is templated in Nero so you don't have to go through the extra steps.

try use NERO to burn in 'DVD Movie' mode or Shink itself to burn. a good midia is required too, try RITEK/RIDATA.

        What Am I Doing Wrong

        Hi Ormonde,
I did think of that suggestion of burning at a much lower speed.

I'm not sure I fully understand what you mean about manually doing the Video TS and Audio TS.

When I open Record NowDX the wizard opens and I click to burn a Data Disk. then it asks for the files.
I just put my mouse over the title of the movie and say ok.....
Is this where I'm going wrong.
Do I have to manually go to those 2 folders and just insert the 2 folders?

Yes I do use the Record Now DX .... I also have nero but not installed as there is an incompatibility with my Pioneer DVD burner. Ok to use Nero Xpress, but that's all.

I downloaded the Burnatonce as it looked so simple to use in the demonstration.

Yes, but ALL the DVD-related files MUST reside in the VIDEO_TS folder that you create manually.

this sounds very suspicious .. is there not a DVD movie option?

Also, no mention is being made of media type. Are you sure you're using formats and brands that are compatible with your player and burner? The site www.videohelp.com can help you out here.

From memory BurnAtOnce is only for use with DVD+R/RW
This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!

Only for VCD not DVD. You have to use "Data" mode and manually create the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders.

Burnatonce handles -R. The latest version now needs a free plugin and serial to master DVD.

If the resultant burn doesn't open in PowerDVD, it sounds like it's just a data disc.

If you've burned DVD's in the past that worked, with the same method, there must be a system problem. Maybe uninstalling/reinstalling your burning apps may help. You might have developed an ASPI problem. Installed anything lately? Any major changes to your computer?

If using XP, maybe System Restore to an earlier date?

Nero should work with your Pioneer, but RecordNow and Nero do not play well together.
