thanks to both setarip and dimmer for helping me out, i have now got it working and i am truly amazed at how well the programs work and how good the quality is. i am taking dvd 9s down to 1 dvd-r so it is fairly compressed - but the quality is so good i cant really tell a difference between the original and the copy. anyways, i hope everyone that reads this has a much luck as i have.

How many people here use compression on Shrink and how many of you like or dislike the quality? I've backed up movies using more than 50% compression and I am hardpressed to find and noticable, distracting change. I think that if you have your TV settings calibrated properly then you won't notice the compression much, if at all.
But what is everyone's thoughts on the compression quality?Comment

Compression Quality
I've back up about 45 movies so far all except one requiring some level of compression (LOTR-ROTK) and I must say that the quality of the burns viewed by others and myself looks just as good as the original. I do have an occasional pause/freeze but I have found that it's not a bad burn that causes the problem, because if I rewind and replay the pause does not occur in the same spot in the play back, so I just simply stop the play, wipe off the disk and replay with no more pauses. If I wipe the disk before I play the movie than it plays perfectly. I don't see what all the fuss about the quality of the DVD after compression is all about. I allow shrink to do it's thing with auto-compressing (some of my back-ups have been in the mid to low 50% range) and the movie still looks as good as the original. So to answer your question in short, I'm very pleased with how shrink compresses and the quality afterwards. Too-Cool
PS, With all the great help from the MEMBERS on this forum, how can you not be satisfied with the results. You guys/gals do a great job of helping beginners such as myself with your knowledge and experience, Thanks Again
