Problem backing up with DVDshrink

Hi All,

Hope this is the right place to post this. I've just backed up the movie "We Were Soldiers". I re-authored it by dragging only the movie over to be written to an ISO file. Nothing else was selected - no extras. The problem is that the final result has this voice over from the director. I can't get rid of it nor can I see how to get rid of it. Anyone have any ideas here?

did you de-select any audio streams whilst re-authoring?

Use your player's remote control to select a different audiostream, by pressing a button labeled either "Audio" or "language"...

Thanks for the replies. I tried playing around with the remote control but couldn't turn off the narration...it's there to stay. Yes, I de-selected 5.1 sound and just kept the 2 channel sound only....would that cause this? Might have been a problem because I couldn't find anyway to turn off the 5.1 sound from the original movie when we watched it unless that can be done by remote? Anyway, it's still got me stumped!

the 2.0 audio should be the director's comment audio track and 5.1 is the movie soundtrack

Thanks for the replies everyone! I re-authored the DVD using 5.1 sound and that did the trick. So I guess there is no way to have regular old stereo sound then unless I can somehow adjust it with the remote control? I couldn't see how to do that anywhere though. Guess I'll have to buy a 5.1 system one of these days!

Some DVD's include a regular stereo track and some don't. In DVD Shrink the tracks will very often be indistinguishable from commentary, so make sure you preview. Also, 5.1ch sound is almost always they default audio, so you'll have to do some tinkering with IFOedit to make it automatically play the regular 2ch sound.

Unless space is a concern, I would just leave it with the 5.1, because it should get downmixed to stereo anyway, and it'll be there should you ever get a 5.1 system.
