    Copy disk with nero 6

    Can anyone help me?

When I try to make a duplicate of a disk I already backed on on a dvdr with nero it tells me there is not enough space on the blank dvdr even though they are the same size. What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks alot for your time.
    Peace.

If you got an DVD with double layer u need to buy a special disk.
But if you want to burn yuor movie on disc u need to use program DVD Shrink and there if u want to make backup of DVD u can chose which way so u better chose AUTOMATIC which will mak equalty of DVD for nomal diskh which is 4,7 GB

Copy it as a "Data DVD" (NOT "DVD-Video")...

Setarip I tried it but I think you misunderstood what i was asking or i misunderstood your answer. How exactly do I copy it as a data disk, because when select data disk I can only load files from my computer not a source drive. Or is it that I should have copied the first copy that I made as a data disk in order to use the copy disk function with dvd's?

I am a bit confused. What i am trying to do is make a copy of a copy buy using the both drives at once(one as source the other to write to disk) without loading the data to my pc.

            Thanks again.

This is the error I get:

There is not enough space to burn this compilation onto this disc.

It says disc required for the compilation: DVD+R/RW,DVD-R/RW

but the disk is a dvd-r so I am pretty confused.

Are you trying to do a +R to a -R? The have slightly different maximum sizes.

One way out that may work is to use DVD Shrink and try to reduce the disc size by a few per cent.

I am trying -R to -R and even if I use a copy of a movie whic did not fill the disk it still tells me there is not enough space on the blank.

Have you tried using a DIFFERENT blank DVD? The one you are using may be flawed (or, possibly, already have been written to)...

                      let me try:

first see on Windows Explorer the size of the master DVD , the one that will be copied, if it's over 4,7Gb u must shink (use DVD Shink) the content of the DVD to fit a DVD-R (4,7Gb). Shink can even burn the result for you using Nero interface or record the result on a folder. if the disc size is less than 4,7Gb, try this: create a folder in your computer and copy the folders of the DVD (VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS) to this new folder. Open Nero (DVDVideo Mode ou Data) and then drag the folders copied in your HD to the new DVD.

Also i notice that it seems you're burning directely DVD to DVD, in this case u must have two DVD drivers to do this directely without specifying a temporary folder. If u have only one driver, try make a DiscCopy, insert the original, indicate a Temp Folder (create a new one, don't use an O.S. folder such as 'C:' or 'C:\Win\Temp' etc), after the process done Nero will ask for the Blank Disc.
If in this phase u got the size error message u can look the size of the files in temporary folder as a result of Nero analisys and DVD file structure.

                      hope it helps !

let me explain a bit further. I have two drive one dvd rom and one dvd burner. I would like to use the dvdrom as source and the writer to burn. I have a movie on a 4.7gb dvd-r which i want to copy on another 4.7gb dvd-r without having to copy files to my computer because of lack of space.

You have not mentioned "which" version of Nero that you are using. Some of the earlier versions of Nero are reported to be quite buggie. Update Nero to the latest version and try again, sometimes this works. Do check the "size" of the "sorce" disc that you are placing in the dvd-rom for the size of the project. Please report back as to your progress as there may be a setting or two that needs to be changed in Nero.

I am using nero 6.3.1.6. the size of the source disk is 4.7gb and the disk to write to is also 4.7gb. Will the size of the project be the same as the size of the sourc disk, or will it be greater?

I can't see why nero won't work for dvd's because it works for
cd-r's. With cd-r's i can do the fast copy option.
