Hello,
I've lurked in DVF for months but this is my first post.
I'm having problems with burning to blank DVDs and reading DVDs I've already burned.
I have a Toshiba DBD ROM SD-R6112 drive. I use DVD Shrink and Record Now MAX to burn the DVDs. If I am backing up a non region 1 disk, I enable DVD 43.
Yesterday, I backed up a region 3 disk to my hard drive with the intention of burning a disk this morning. When I insert a blank DVD however, the drive doesn't recognize it. Nor does it now recognize any of the back-up DVD-R copies I have made to this point. The indicator light on the drive blinks for a few seconds and then stays lit permanently. When I try to open a previously recorded DVD-R through My Computer, I get an error message saying that Windows cannot read from the disk.
I've been backing up for months now and have never had this problem.
The strange thing is that the drive will still play commercial DVDs and CDs, as well as recognize blank CD-Rs.
I normally use Maxell DVD-R disk. As I mentioned, the drive doesn't recognize burned or blank ones. I've tried Maxell DVD-Rs from two different packages - same thing. I've unistalled and reinstalled the drive.
Any suggestions as to why the drive won't recognize any DVD-Rs?
Many thanks for any responses.
David
