OK, At weekend I picked up a nice cheap IT8212 RAID controller, which I've re-flashed with the ATAPI BIOS. Now my config is:-
On Board IDE:-
Primary - HD Master
HD Slave
Secondary
LiteOn SOHW 812 DVDRW (Master)
RAID Card
Primary
LiteOn 48246S CDRW (Master)
Secondary
DVD-ROM 16x (Unbranded - came with the machine - Master)
Now, with that setup, neither of the burners nor the DVD-ROM should be throttled. However, If I try a DVD copy on the fly from DVD-ROM to DVDRW, even though the ROM is supposed to be 16x, burning at 8x, the buffer constantly empties, putting the burning in BURNPROOF wait until it catches up. Surely I should be able to copy on the fly at 8x without pauses.
Any ideas/comments?
