Problems with DVD Shrink and LG Burner

    Hello,
After reading this forum for the last few months and only just getting into the DVD Burning scene, I have registered get help from the wealth of knowledge that is on this forum.
Until recently I have been able to backup a lot of DVD's using DVD Shrink and Nero. However now it is virutally impossible to burn anything. I am currently using a LG DVD Burner GSA 4081B. I tried updating the firmware (which worked fine) in the hope that this would work. It didn't. The drive has been locked to region 4, and I am trying to backup region 4 discs (Pirates of the Carribean). The error message that keeps coming up is Data error (cyclic redundancy check). Any thoughts, ideas? Any help would be appreciated.
Also forgot to ask, why is it that you can quite easily backup a DVD to your hard drive from a DVD Rom player or DVD/CD-R Combo drive, but some DVD Burner drives will not read certain discs?
    Thanks

Re' the CRC error, Ensure your disc is clean, no dust, fingerprints, scratches etc.
If you still have trouble first rip with DVD Decrypter (Freeware) and select "Open Files" in DVD Shrink and navigate to your newly ripped files.

DVD burners are often more good at reading discs. The otherway you are having problem with sounds odd. Have you tried to clean the burner with a cleaning disc?

Thanks for the responses. I have used DVD Decrypter before, but on this occasion it doesn't want to do the trick. It comes up with an error message (will post message later), and I have cleaned the disk (read this in a post). How do you go about cleaning the burner? Any other suggestions I am open to, as at the moment I don't seem to be moving forwards.
        Thanks in advance.

"How do you go about cleaning the burner?"

Maxell makes a DVD/CD cleaning disc that retails for approximately $10US...
