    Basic DVD Burning

I have just purchased a PlextorPX-716A Dual Layer DVD Burner as well as Nero 6 Ultra Edition and Downloaded the latest version of DVD Shrink.

    1. Is this all I need to burn Troy?
    2. Do I burn it to my hard drive first?
    3. What Region do I select on the DVD?
    4. Do I need/should I compress the File?
    5. I opened the DVD from DVD shrink and then tried to burn but I got and error message and It closed. Do I need to burn thru Nero 6 only?
    6. What are some steps that I can take to ensure good quality DVD
    7. What about Deep Analyzing.........is it necessary
    8. After burning to hard drive, do I open up Nero and pick source location and burn? If so, what option on Nero 6 will have the best quality?
    9. I read thru some Q&A on the forum and Compression is talked about a lot. How is this done easily?

Please answer ques. in Laymans terms..........
I know these are first grade questions, but I want to start burning and stop buying............

    Please help me!!

Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions.

    1. Get the latest Firmware for your Drive and Update Nero Ultra Edition to 6.6.0.5 that just came out yesterday for updates.

    2. Depends on what you want to do with it.. Some movies your eill need to use DVD Decrypter to burn to your hard drive then use DVD Shrink to compress it and burn it. Or if you want more then one copy then yes burn it to your hard drive as an ISO to make more then one copy without having to do it all over again.

    3. Depends on where you live you will want to make your region the same region that you live in. Region 1 for USA so that you can read rented DVD's to watch.

    4. Depends on how big the movie is and if you want to have all the bells and whistles of the full featured DVD your making. I perfer to Re-Author mine to remove Menu's, copy only AC3 5.1, and to toss all the Extras of a movie out to avoid compression or atleast make it as big as the orginal as possible.

    5. Need a little more info on what DVD your attempting to read and make sure you Update Firmware in the Answer #1.

    6. Burn at 4x Times speed so that you use the less amount of stress on your burner to make a good copy. Also make sure that you have Shrink not to be in Low Priority Mode in the options so that it has more CPU Priority to focus on doing its thing.

    7. Yes Deep Analyzing is a good thing to do. It makes sure that the movie will fit on a 4.7 GB disc and can even imporve your overall quality of the backup.

    8. If you burn to Hard Drive you should just burn it to ISO then have Nero Burning ROM write the ISO to a blank disc.

    9. Answer 4 kinda explains this question. Quality vs Content.

    Hope that helps...
    Cheers!

Hard Drive Getting Eaten Away by Unknown

      Thank you TRION!!!!
You can't imagine how much you have helped me in Burning DVD's.
I have been Decrypting with "Decrypter", and Shrinking with "DVDShrink" to my Hard Drive (not for more than one copy, but to ensure that I don't have to re-do the process if something happens after Deep Analysing while burning) and IT HAS WORKED PERFECTLY (only 1 coaster in 30 burns). But if you could assist me in one last question I would appreciate it............

I have created a seperated folder on my hard drive (30gig) for each movie I burn. After I burn and make sure the movie plays correctly, I delete it from the location where "Decrypter" places it (a recognizable file in my C drive) and then delete from my created SubFolder. But it still seems like there is a place that the movie file(s) are saving to other than one that I can find through Windows Explorer. My Hard Disk space is slowly getting eaten away.

Do you know where I can find the Files?

Thanks Again for answering a rather Elementary Question

Okay their sitting in your Recycle Bin, Empty it... When you select the directory to delete by Right Click for Menu then select Delete, keep your finger in on the SHIFT key. This will delete the directory without it being placed in your Recycle Bin which still holds the movie and the free space you are looking for.
        Cheers!

          Also

If you using Norton Proteced Recycle Bin make sure you empty that too then empty Recycle Bin if anything is in it.
          Cheers!
