I have burned several movies with my standalone dvd recorder, but I cannot play them on other dvd players, have tried dvd+r & dvd+rw media. When I look at them on my comp I find video_rm instead of video_ts files. What is video_rm? Could this be my problem?

Yes it says when you hit stop it automatically finalizes them.
