When the read buffer empties you are likely to get a 'coaster' .. or two!

The read buffer fills (usually) at the start of the burn. If it stays full it would mean your burner wasn't burning the data, as bad a circumstance as the buffer emptying.
The purpose of the buffer is to maintain throughput allowing fluctuations in processor demand for instance. Neither a full or empty buffer is really desirable.

Your system is not fast enough to keep BOTH buffers full. It might be as simple as needing to defrag your hard disk or as expensive as needing to buy a new computer.

A work-around might be to burn one or both DVD's at a slower speed.
