                Your basic problem is that the firmware (=your burner) don't support the brand of discs that you use.

                        Not sure if your burner is an OEM version of the DRU-500AX.

                        'The upgrade 1.0x ARE NOT compatible with DRX-500ULX or DRU-500AX (different hardware), only use 2.0x firmware for these models.'

                            From what I've personally experienced, coupled with pertinent posts I've read at multiple forums and other sites, virtually ALL SONY burners "like" Ritek/Ridata media (G03 dye) and Maxell ( manufactured by MMC) media...
