    plz help "write error"

I've backed up a dvd and all was fine soon after i tried backing up another and I get "write error" I've never gotten 1 b4 now. I tried 3 diff brands od dvd-rs and same thing. I tried brning at diff speed and samething. I wasted about 20-25 dvd-rs already. I got pissed after wasting the first 10 or so and shut the computer down for the night. The next morning i tried again and it worked once and then the "write error" stared up again. My dvd burner is only a year old.

The firmware is up-to-date and I'm using the latest Nero Burning rom.

    PLZ help

    here is my Nero Log...

    2. Disc Manufacturer: CMC MA - G. AE1 - This is the crappiest media out there. Use better media.

Well, there's quite a bit on non-genuine stuff out there. Identify media by its ID code, not its brand. Read more in that media quality link.

Also the Bkank median sub-forum has a number of IDs with DVD Identifier, to make sure you've got what you wanted.

A lot of people in the US trust meritline for buying disks. Here is Oz, I have a great online supplier who will tell me the media codes and more importantly, ASSURE me that what I order is the quality I want.

went out and bought some MAXELL and same junk happens. im giong to try leaving the pc off for an hour and see if it works afterward.

If so, it must be a heating prob...but what is overheating? The pc or the burner?

a burner overheating? is that not unheardof?

Yes, your PC could be overheating. Open the cover and blow out the dust, especially from the cooling fans.

Blow in some air from a regular fan with the cover off and see if the problem is still there. If so, you know where your problems lie.

Often a good cleaning of dust from the system will keep things going for another year.
