It would be nice to hear from anyone in U.K that would like to share their media burning and buying tips. At the mo im burning with an nec nd3520 onto maxell (yuden) dvd+r. These are good discs in my opinion, but quite pricey. £9.99 for a 25 spindle delivered. I play my backup movies on either a ps2 or a grumpy old samsung dvd 709, which doesnt like cheap media. Ive had a good read of videohelp.com , but there is not many uk posters. So if anyone has the same or nearly the same setup, get in touch.

i have happily and succesfully burned onto :-
datawrite yellow 4x
ridisc 4x (G04 dye)
ridisc 8x (G05 dye) - [can burn ok at 12x]
using my pioneer 108 and playing back on a toshiba sd330 (which i rate highly, bought off ebay recently for 35 quid!)
all purchased quite cheaply from http://www.ebuyer.com
they've currently got some "Ridisc 8x DVD-R (Ritek G05 dye) 25Pk Cake box Printable" for £5.05 inc VAT (plus p&p), which get four and a half stars out of five from 33 reviews.
looks worth a go, i'll be having some of these when i next need some.
i've had over 100 discs (in 25 pcks) from ebuyer and no complaints yet, i do tend to avoid the cheapest and try to buy something with a decent dye. worth reading the reviews as sometimes ebuyer quote one dye on the item spec page but actually deliver something else. but usually people shout up when that happens, just read the reviews.
hope this helps, and i'd be interested in anyone elses recommendations for good cheap media... -

"...the Media Code/Manufacturer ID of MCC 01RG20 is proof that it manufactured with the well proven, extremely high quality, Mitsibushi dye with the available burning speeds of 1x, 2x and 4x and a total capacity of 4.36 GB and compatiability problems should not be present with both PC and standalone DVD Players."Comment

Like the song goes but a little different, on forums we are sorta friends helping each other out.

Datawrite Grey Prodisc 8x are ok for most people, but they didn't work too well for my LG standalone. SVP have started stocking these after discontinuing the brand when they switched from Fuji to Prodisc, so they should be ok.
I'm using Ritek G05 4x at the moment and they're superb.
I've also had a couple of Tuffdisc samples from SVP to use and they are ok, but they use different dyes I think and it's hit and miss which type you get.Comment
