    Dvd Copying Wrecks Original DVD???

    Hello,

Recently I've been thinking of purchasing some dvd copying software so I can make backups of my favorite DVDS I've already purchased. It's a common thing for me to have dvds wrecked and become unplayable.

I know a friend who works at a dvd sales store, and he swears that if you copy a DVD you risk wrecking the original dvd. He said because the lasers or something, after copying a dvd more than once or twice, the dvd can be wrecked. Is there any truth in this?

    Thanks a lot

No. It is something, I would expect a DVD sales person to say though.

No truth to this. Ripping can be hard on your dvd reader/burner.

        welcome to the forum

        ** He said because the lasers ** / ** or something **
no truth to that but, if a burner/rom is faulty/damaged in a certain physical way, then there may be some risk of scratches (sometimes big scratches too).
anyway, i think your friend was easily fooled by whoever told him that. most likely, to stop any duplication activities
