I was going to update my firmware but i am worried it might damge the recorder any advice thanks

Do it. Just do not have a disk in the drive and reboot afterwards.

Tiny. Make sure you get the right firmware - see my sig. Though if you haven't got it, it generally will spew out an error message and won't update.

the right firmware? go to the manufacturers website. you may notice small differences like when i updated mine, some discs would only burn at 4x instead of the 2x option i once had. i was the same way. update it, you'll be fine. it will save you trouble in the future--believe me."One day men will look back and say I gave birth to the 20th Century". As cynthia pointed out, and on the website, 2.60 is the latest version and the one you want. It's a zipped file your going to need to unzip it. The zip file contains the firmware and instructions on how to flash it in windows. Click on 2.60 to download it.Not registered
