can i use the DVD R DL (double layered) 8.5 GB discs?

can i use blank DVD R DL (double layered) 8.5 GB dvds to copy movies and watch them on my tv w/ my regular dvd player? ive only tried the 4.7gb discs.

If you have a burner that is made for Dual layer buring, you can.

The easiet way to backup a DVD to a dual layer disc is through the use of DVD Decrypter. Just do a "ISO Read", then a "ISO Write".
