    "thankyou"

    My pleasure ;>}

    Again, silly question, perhaps, but you do have a DVD BURNER, don't you?

          yes of course i have a burner and have had no problems with it till now, but at least computer was still functioning. my main concern right now is cant stop it from starting in safe mode, unless i want to pay microsoft to help fix it.

            "my main concern right now is cant stop it from starting in safe mode"

            From a COLD boot, you should be able to simply do the following:

            All you need to do is hold down the CTRL key at the first sign of any text on the screen during boot until the Microsoft Windows 98 Startup Menu appears.

            And then select the mode into which you wish to bootup...

                And what happens if you HOLD DOWN the Control key and keep it held down?

                    maybe my screen is just different due to something, but it looks exactly like the screen when you are in safe mode. the web pages and shortcut icons etc all look the same as when comp in safe mode. sorry........probly just causing more frustration....

                      Does it say "Safe Mode" in all four corners? If not, then change your resolution.

                      Later.

                          Glad to hear that!

                          Now do a test burning to see if your setting of DMA improves the outcome ;>}
