trouble with itunes

about 2-3 days after i put itunes on my pc my burner started taking 2.5 hrs to burn a disc when it normally takes me about 20 mins.ive updated the firmware on the dvd drive and the dma seems to be in order. any suggestions on anything else i could check would be greatly appreciated.
