Burn Error.....PLEASE HELP!!

My brother got a lap top with a dvd burner in it, so he put in DVD dhrink and it works fine...so good that I got an external burner for my computer, so that I could burn dvds too.
Anyways I've only been able to burn two dvds on my computer....I'm not really sure what is wrong.

I put the dvd in it analysis, encodes, then goes to burn. At about 50-65% of the burn process, it says burn failed....burn error.

what brand of DVD are you working with? You might be working with cheap quality DVDs or your burner doesn't really like it.

He is using "Disc Manufacturer: SONY08 - D1".

yea, I'm using sony discs...is that the problem?

My burner is an I/O magic external ubs 2.0 dvd-rw/r 16x

Try a different brand of media.

I tried a different brand....a memorex disc that was just laying around...it worked so I went out an bought some, the ones I bought won't work.

the one that did work was 4x the ones that wont was 8x....

could it be that my burner will only burn 4x discs?
