    Sony mini dvd-r problem

I Burned a mini dvd-r on a Sony handycam, but accidentally hit something while finalizing the disk. This caused the first 6 files to corrupt. Unfortunately, none of the editors such as windows moviemaker, Pixelas image maker, etc will read the disk. Windows media palyer and win dvd will read from chapter 7 on without problem.

My problem is that I want to burn this mini to a regular dvd and make copies for Kids. I have tried numerous programs, but all have faield, including dvd rebuilder which shows error 75, path/file access error. (I am not certain I am doing everything right in that program.)

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the forum, bgitter!

What it know is that these miniDVDs are more or less a DVD with the same .ifo, bup, vob structure as a regular one.

The first 6 files could you get those over to your hard disk? Which files do you have on your hard disk?

That you get an error in DVD Rebuilder sounds as you do miss some vital files for the project to be opened.

      sony mini dvd-r problem

Actually, I dont have any of these files on my harddrive. Sonys format is rather difficult to understand for me. It doesnt break down in sectors or chapters, like you might see in win media player. I have the video still on this mini-dvd-r. referencing win explorer just shows a master file in what looks like a proprietary format, maybe a vob file.

But i truly believe it is those 6 files or chapters that is preventing the image mixer from reading the disk. I cant capture with a number of programs i have tried as well. I have resorted to these prgrams, since it wont burn from roxio or sonic.

Is there a way to burn from win media player? The players seem to read the disk, but burners or editors cant seem to read.

Think you can only burn CDs in that program.
