I understand.I just wish when i was using shrink i could just use my burner as the destination, rather than have to come back to my comp after the files have been transferred, pop out a disk then throw in a blank and start a process. Not a biggie.Just rather do everything in one step.

"Ok, so i went ahead and got the v.JWS6 firmware and installed it, I then went and updated my Nero to the 6.6 and Biggity Bam!No more illegal disk failure! The disk goes ahead and burns, but then it only plays for about ten minutes and the scene selection features freeze up.I tried popping it into different DVD players, no go.I'm gonna give it another shot."

GOOD TO HEAR, BUT TO GET RID OF THE FREEZING I THINK ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS USE A BETTER MEDIA LIKE SONY OR VERBATIM AT 2X OR 4X

Is your Memorex DVD16+/-DL4RWlD2 an internal drive in an external enclosure? Or it was an external when you bought it at the store.

I'm running out of suggestions. How about you just drop Nero and try burning with DVD Decrypter? I want to know if your Nero is giving you grief.

                        Afterthought PT2:

Something else thats driving me nuts is the fact that a few days ago i used an old version of Nero to burn the movie "Hostage".Shrank it and then just clicked and dragged the files into the video ts folder and it worked fine.but every other friggin thing i've done hasn't worked. Why was i able to burn one dvd so darn easy and everything else fails over and over. ah well, i'm ranting, back to the experimenting i go.

You should only use genuine Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media. Many thanks to www.pcx.com.au for their supply and great service.

To clarify, it would appear that your "uninstalls" left some of the Roxio drivers installed. This happens. More often than we think, in fact.

And, the conflicts which have been reported supposedly are due to some of the drivers that Roxio installs having a conflict with some of the drivers that Nero installs. In some cases, these were drivers that replaced a Microsoft driver that came with Windows. Those drivers are often used by Windows even when you are not necessarily running their particular software. And, they may not uninstall, since you need the drivers for OTHER purposes, sometimes...

As I mentioned, there are LOTS of people who have both running, with no problem. Literally thousands. But, there are too many who do have a problem; Nero describes it as a problem only on "certain systems." And, the most common reported symptom of the conflict (from what I have read) is the report of an "illegal disc" early in a burning process, immediately after the initial "lead in" has been written.
