Sorry to say that there is no Clean tool available yet for Nero 7. Sure was a good idea though.

Try the Nero 6 clean tool. There's a link to it in the Golden rules of burning - see my signature.

I upgraded to the full Nero6 from an OEM version and Ahead sent me a new serial number in an email to input in the serial number screen. Are you sure the serial number you are trying to input is the same as the demo one? I would double check the email they sent you to be sure. You should be able to add the new serial number they sent you.Not registered Go here and click register to join the Digital Digest Forums

I also upgraded and Ahead emailed me the license key which I mistakenly put in when during the install it asked for my name and there was a place to input a key and it overwrote the demo key, so yes it is now the same as the demo because the demo got over written with my resisted key! You did it properly and put it in after the install. I am paying the price for being over exuberant and putting it in at the start of install.
Was I stupid for not reading and following directions more closely? Yes without a doubt. Is it a poor setup procedure and is Ahead slow in responding to my problem? I think so. The key for Nero 7 is remembered somewhere and uninstalling the program does not take out the key. It would seem that the solution would be for Ahead to give me the demo key which hopefully, but not definitely would overwrite my key and than I could input my licensed key and solve the problem. Or Ahead could invalidate the key I purchased and give me another.
Maybe they have a simpler, better solution and I am anxiously awaiting their response. I'll let you know if and when the problem is resolved.Comment

Just wanted to say thanks for the help. The Clean All tool followed by manual removal of folders allowed me to do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the Demo. I was then able to input my key and all is working fine now with the exception that on the uninstall menu the program is still called Demo (I believe that this is just a minor annoyance) and more important I still crash when trying to check for updates.
Still nothing from tech support at Ahead, but hopefully they can clear up these last issues.
Thanks Again,

I have not upgraded to Nero 7 yet but I did upgrade from an OEM version of Nero 6 that came with my burner to the Ultra 6 Edition. I guess OEM and demos or with Nero 7 things are handled differently. This shows in my add remove program listing

I have a mate of mine who paid the upgrade price and got a dowloaded serial number....
He he's complainig that under widows it sugeests he's got nothing but the demo version....
I went over and sorted a few issues for him but when I made a note of the serial number and tried it myself I have to say that is true (like mentioned previously).
I Use acronis true imaging sofware and have now reverted back to my trusty Nero 6 (I use that term loosely these days)
Old bugs have been intruduced to Nero 6 to push you toooo the latest buggier version 7 whatever... Excelent marketing skils as I grow to expect from zie Nero crrew!
I would expect nothing less than perfection from them if theire to pesuade the likes of me to part with the upgrade difference...Last edited by Guest; 12 Nov 2005, 07:27 AM.Comment

As everyone here knows, I am a noted Nero basher. However, Floppy, nothing, not even the chance to bash em a bit more, would tempt me to pay for an "upgrade".
DVD Decrypter and ImgBurn do the job perfectly and always have.

Finally heard from Nero Tech Support and they claim that the, "Demo problem" will be resolved in the next update. As far as Nero crashing when checking for an update they say, "The automatic update function over
- Nero StartSmart
- Nero Toolkit
- Nero ProductSetup
- Update your Nero Products
is not available yet unfortunately.
We will be able to offer a new update for Nero 7 on our website www.nero.com at the beginning of December. Download this update manually; all further updates for Nero 7 can then be installed directly over Nero."
You have to feel sorry for anyone still using a dial-up!Comment

You can remove and replace the serial number using the Nero Product Center button on Nero SmartStart. Remove the code. Restart windows, reinter the code. that should get that Demo problem cleared up.
That button is the flame button in lower right of the SmartStart window, in case you hadn't discovered it yet.Last edited by AnnaFagle; 4 Dec 2005, 09:02 AM.Comment
