Probably your player supports one format but not the other +R vs -R

See the player/media compatibility link in my signature.

He just told you do a google on your Home DVD player and see if it just plays -R DVD or if it plays both +R and -R DVDs if it just plays -R your +R DVDs wont play on it

I'm having the same problem. My home DVD player is a Norcent DP315. The users manual says it supports DVD-R and DVD-RW. The online compatibility list also says it should support these media. I created a DVD using dvdshrink and burned it to disk using Roxio Easy CD and DVD Creater 6. I created two copies, one on DVD-R media and the other on DVD-RW media. My DVD burner is a 16x DVD Writer from Hammer Storage (www.hammer-storage.com).

Both disks show the same behavior. They play properly when I put them in my computer, however, when I try to play them on the Norcent DP315 mentioned above, the disk spins up and there is a blank screen. No menu. If I hit play, the item that is third in the menu plays, but there appears to be no way to play the main feature.

I tried ifoedit to see if the pointers were out of whack, but ifoedit did not see anything that needed to be fixed.

Incidentally, when I used DVD Shrink, I did not do a re-author, but instead did a full disk backup.

Any idea how I can get this thing to play? Any info would be appreciated.

            Thanks,
            --Andy

your player is older/cheap and problematic,
according to amazon: "Far and away the most irritating thing about the DP315 is its tendency to freeze up during video playback. "
                  and that's on factory dvd's.

Just because my car is a (e.g.) Honda, this information alone will not do me any good when ordering parts. I would also supply my dealer with Make and Model. We know now your burner is a Sony but Sony made alot of different player up-to-date. Please help us help you.
