I've never scanned them but I've never had problems with my Ritek SL's.
    That's why I ordered the DL's.

go slow and search search, expensive beta testing at 2$ a pop.

I don't think twice about pitching a 30c made in japan disk cause it's below 95 QS.

That's a pretty high standard. I noticed that on my scan the other day, at 93% it was way below the 280 and 32.

yeah, but I was trying to hit 97-98 with TY media and I had plenty of
MCC's that had already done 96-97. One rogue spike ruins a score.
It's kinda like trying to bowl a 300 game, which burner and which firmware.
I only pitched 2 that session. I am not that crazy that I would waste
that many made in japan disks. This part of the testing is now finshed,
          on to benching burning software.

            Hello,

I just got the DVD+R DL's and burned my first DL. I'll have to change my opinion of Brown if they keep delivering this quickly. It was SWIII and unfortunately, it doesn't play at all in my Pioneer, Skips a lot on my PS2, and skips in the middle (near the layer break?) on a Cyberhome. BUT it plays perfectly on my PC. So what's the deal? Should I try another disc and choke it up to a bad disc? Or should I not even bother. I used DVDDecrypter MDS @2.4 (Can't burn any slower.)

            Thanks!

Here's the Scan. Looks bad in the middle and the end. Media prob or Drive prob?

qs zero, real bad, the media code's in firmware, afraid they would send you those
ritek d01's. anony using the ricohjpn?

If you are absolutely positive you've done everything else right I might try
another burn, there may be some stock to the theory that burners learn
to burn media. I would try cdspeed quality and scan at 5x.

edit>>>>> maybe it's the burning software

What do you mean by cdspeed quality? Let me see. I decrypted ISO in Decrypter and double clicked on the MDS file. The Bit is set to DVD-ROM as you can see. You can see my firmware version as well. Any other ides?

well we know you have 1 very good player(the pc burner), 2 of the standalones are problematic, assuming the pioneer is over 2 yrs old,
that's 3 strikes. Check the disk on someone elses new good player.

                      4.08 4.10 is still buggy

                      scan at 5x with nec

                      2nd burn may be better

firmware is current and I use it

I can try Imgburn. What do you use?

I downloaded 4.10 because 4.08 doesn't seem to be available and I am running the test now. The only problem is that it won't fix this disc.

My Pioneer is a Universal player that plays SACD as well as DVD and is about a year old. It seems to be the finickiest as well. My $40 Cyberhome was doing the best.

                          where's the calvary?

I am waiting for DL verbs to hit 1$. the light obscure reference to burning software was a "tease" aimed at the anti-nero faction.
If your 3540 is getting old(many hundreds of burns) that might explain it.
BTW DL's never scan very good.

                            Lost me there.

I just got my 3540 about 2 months ago. It's still young.

Is there any credence to this burner "learning" how to burn thing?

I believe so, every time I flash a firmware the first burns are the worst.
There's a test that burners use in the center of the disk to do power calibration, how that is remembered I don't know.
Over at cdfreaks it's almost gospel, but they're crazier than I am.

After this scan, I'll try another disc I guess. The fact that it plays on my pc means I did everything right, no?
