Successful with DVDFab Decrypter, DVD Shrink, and Nero, but playback freezes

After losing my entire DVD collection to theft, I have decided to make backup copies of all the new DVDs I purchase. However, I have had great difficulty making quality copies. I have purchased two new DVDs – The 40-Year-Old Virgin and <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1lace><st1:City>Cinderella</st1:City><st1:State>Man.</st1:State></st1lace> The following is the process I have used:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
    <o> </o>
    • Use DVDFab Decypter to successfully rip each DVD to my hard drive<o></o>
    • Use DVD Shrink to successfully compress the file<o></o>
    • Import files to Nero 6 to burn<o></o>
    • Burn image to my hard drive<o></o>
    • Burn DVD<o></o>
    <o></o>
I get no error messages during any steps when doing this. However, when I play back my DVD, it always skips in some place. I can watch the file from my hard drive without any skipping. It only happens when I burn to a DVD.<o></o>
    <o> </o>
I burn with a Sony DRX-810 and use Sony –R media. Is there any additional info anyone would need to help this newbie? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!<o></o>

Hi and welcome to the forum, MizzouTDJB!

Could be your stand alone player that don't like to play burned discs.

Have you tried to play the burned discs in another player?

I have burned home movies with my burner without any playback trouble. The movies will also skip when playing them in my computer. I have absolutely no idea what I should do differently. I hope someone can help me! <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Could have to do with your media. Try getting some DVD+R discs and burn them at only 4 or 8x. Do NOT get Philips however.

Not sure why you not burn the files directly from DVD Shrink. Seems that you first create an ISO file from the files in Nero and then you burn that image with Nero.

So if I burn directly from DVD Shrink, I shouldn't have any problems?

Here is my file from when I made the image with Nero. Could you take a look at this and see if you see anything wrong. If so, please let me know how to fix it. I'm a newbie and this very frustrating. Otherwise, I will try to burn from DVD Shrink and see it that solves the problem. Thank you for all of your help, cynthia!

                        Sorry, I'm blind.

Didn't noticed that you created a DL burning.

The burning is ok but not sure if Nero is the best way to create the layer break with after the DVD Shrink compression.

I would suggest that you use PgcEdit for that purpose and then burn the image with ImgBurn. blutach wrote a guide on how to use PgcEdit for that purpose.
