to flash or not to flash?

A new firmware came out today from Dee, based on the 3.06 nec firmware
for the 3520, I upgraded and tested with TYG03's, the results were disappointing to say the least, when I posted the test graphs, Dee posted her's and like she said some of those drives do better with firmware based
    on the 3.05(I flashed back).

I just wait to see if you & blutach make the move then I know it has to be worthwhile. If you can in basics explain how you test it.If it can't be done in basics that's okay.

Make a data disk with cdspeed, it does a graph, this is pushing the envelope.
Save a png shot of that and disk info, then scan the disk with disk quality,
      save both screenshots!

for example here was attempt 2 with TYG03(attempt 1 with TYG02 was
worse), after looking at a few hundred of these it starts to sink in, I have only done this 7 or 8 times.

          much worse!

but that was a rogue spike, which can cause your playback to stutter or freeze
