    Hi wan,

This Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR) error usually associates with either not-too-good media or burning with too high burning speed. It can be something else too. Please post the Nero log

    Regards

basically it means your burner doesn't like the media, but there are other
possibilities, try a slower (8x) media,

you might try this firmware, very poor support pages, I wouldn't want a BTC drive, and a rebadged BTC would be worse.

Hello, i am having the same problem, with nero end Roxio9 if I try to burn images, divx files o large files I get the error:
          Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR)
          Sense Code: 0x10
          Sense Qual: 0x00

          I cannot burn at all!!

i recently had to reboot the OS , is it a driver's problem? Do I have to send the laptop back to be fixed??

          Thanks 4 your help!

You might want to reload your computer again, then optimize it with the power user sticky from general computing and the free resources.
Don't load any other extra crap at all and then test a burn.
Roxio and Nero don't play well together. With almost 600 megs of ram in use,
burning a cd(just takes a little), there's no telling if nero is hosed by interference or your burner is bad.
You need to try some other media also, good stuff like verbatim or sony?

thanks, I only installed Nero cause Roxio was giving me the error message..will try reload OS. I only use verbatim and TDk...What I can't understand is the fact that for small files like documents it is fine..
                thanks anyway

no idea...I have uninstalled all burning software, (Nero ,Roxio9 and sonic) . I have also deleted the ASPI drivers. it looks increasing likely that I will have to reboot

thank you very much for noticing THAT driver from 1999!! I have deleted all references to it. Reinstalled all burning software and now everything looks to be ok!! Cheers..(fingers crossed)

Nero Burning Error W Verbatim Vinyl CD's

I am having a very annoying problem since the New Year regarding burning on my Verbatim Vinyl CDs with either Jpg's or Mp3's;no problem on Verbatim DVD with DivX, .AVI, WMA or Mpeg files - previous to this time period, I had never a burn error - please assist me with this error log analysis as it would seem the CDs are defective as having tested a burn in Windows Media Player 11 for comparison, got an error msg there indicating the discs were dirty/scratched, which they are not, or to otherwise try another brand - I have run Spysweeper for Rootkits, rebooting my PC + reloading Nero for a new burn several times, ever time a fail, this is one of the many error logs I have saved - any assistance before I head to Office Depot for an adjustment for 2 Ten pack Verbatim Vinyls + a Stack of 25;a success rate of 1 in 3 for the 2 Ten Packs since New Years, of the 25 Pack, I stopped afer 13 burn failures - any direction regarding this inconvenience + loss of time on projects would be invaluable thx

laptop burners don't hold up well and those matsh!ta's have the worst reputation of all of them

verbatim disks are usually good, test the disks in a good burner

Hey Chewy . . .thx for the prompt response, but I must correct you on 'laptop burners'....currently sales in the PC market are strongly trending wireless mobility & as such, most new PC sales are one & the same;ergo, do not underestimate the quality of laptop burners - personally, my model is the Toshiba Satellite, Toshiba being the pre-eminant laptop maker in the world for research, development + pure intuitive functionality + performance - as far as the 'shoddy' quality of my Mat****a DVD Ram Burner, I assure you I have burned hundred of DVDs + CDs without incident + as hard as it may seem to believe, as I myself was in denial about the quality of the Verbatim Vinyls, a customized CD, the performance failures would lead one to conclude none other than 'media defect' which would in effect be the Verbatim'.....as with cell phones, if the abherant behavior only started recently, then one must look at the 1 new variable that has been introduced + in this case, it is the Verbatim Vinyls....bottom line, think I will try me some TDKs instead....it would seem in this day & age, one cannot always assume a prestige brand is 'always' infallable....
