    Make sure you update firmware!!!

I had a recent problem that I solved myself and thought I would pass on this little tidbit for those of us that aren't genius's around a computer.

I recently bought a new computer and couldn't understand why it was taking 1 hour 45 minutes to decrypt a movie when on my old computer it would take about 45 minutes. Afterall, the new computer was supposed to be better and faster, right? So I decided to do a simple thing like "MAKE SURE YOUR FIRMWARE IS UP TO DATE" and as soon as I updated my firmware for my DVD drive I was able to decrypt the same movie in about 20 minutes.

Worse part is before I got to this point, I was deleting programs left and right off my computer thinking there had to be one of them that was slowing down my computer!

Hope this helps someone else out there. These forums sure have given me plenty of help.

Too bad the only way ro answer to your question is to try all and see what give you better results with the media you have available.

I can suggest you to start with 1620 firmware: it give great scans with benq drives, so it's a good first choice.

does it do disk quality scans now?

the crossflash to benq 1620 is a jedi warrior type, no timidity allowed

                Night,
You realize that you may kill it, I did it cause I needed a good scanner and had a lot of good burners.

I read the first 2 pages over and over, 2 hours later I had a pro benq drive.

My problem was I started on page 7 or 8 and worked my way back

my drive is still fine, I still can't flash it, any way my plex 716UF will come soon and I hope I can get better scan, I did scan before after it upgrade to GD30 but the PIF error does not show, I have sony light on that can scan PIF but not the Jitter

after you get the bugs out of the new plex, think about the benq 1620

1620 and 1640 are long gone, and better scanners than the plex's
