    Glitchy playback on all DVD's

Hi again. Before I continue, thanks again for all the forum's help last time I had a problem. Frogot to say it at the time.

Anyway, I am having a new problem. Things copy (either through DVDShrink or PGCEdit/DVD Decrypter) fine now, and seem to burn fine (although I am noticing I am getting a lot of Unspecfied Burner Errors) but when I play the discs in a stand alone player, the video is jumpy or glitchy, and the sound loses and regains sync randomly. I am using the latest firmware and Nero, and I am using TDK Video DVD (my store doesn't sell Data discs). I posted a log below. Any ideas what is going on? It seems to be happening with every one.

OK, I switched to Verbatim's and I am still getting the same errors and problems. I just tried my copy of BUffy S3 D5, ran it through Nero CD-DVD Speed ScanDisk, and it started to find errors at about the 99.0% area. Is it possible that my burner or the files are at fault? I can shrink and burn without a single error. The files I am using for the Buffy's for example are derived from me Shrinking a perviously Shrinked (Shrunk?) disc; is a second generation problem happeneing here? Could it be the speed (I tend to go 12X or 16X now with the new discs)? Is it possible that theres is corruption because I have other things running when I am shrinking? (I tend to leave Azureus on while it goes). This just started to become a problem, I have done over 400 burns with nothing like this before. Any help you all can give would be great.

If i am correct that you are burning at 12x & 16x slow it down. THE GOLDEN RULES OF BURNING!!!! I know it takes a long time but keep it down to 4x for DVD Videos, you will get much better results. It sounds as though you are using good media so try again at a slower speed so that the writer can write to the edge of the disc easier, you may not get errors this way!

are you still using the original power supply? I noticed the system is running off a 20 gig hard drive and you have added 80 and 160 gig drives to that.

Yeah I am, it's a 115/230V power supply. Could that be affecting it?

Alright burned a new one at 6X (Nero wouldn't let me go any lower) and it still didn't work. I ran ScanDisk in Nero DVD Speed and it came up 100% Good, then I ran the disc quality test and got the results below. I can't figure it out, it seems like I am doing everything right. I still get the sneaking hunch that the rips are bad, I might try moutning the ISO's in Alcohol and running them through my comps DVD player. See if the same errors show up.
                Any other ideas?

OK ran the file through Alcohol and WinDVD, played fine. So I dug the disc out of the trash and tried that on my comp, voila played fine. So the problem seems to be my standalone player, which bums me out slightly. Is it common for certain brands to work on a player and some not, all other things being equal? I have stuff on ranging from Sony to TDK to now Verbatim, and the old stuff works but not new stuff. Any good stand alone players that work with backups?

Not all types of media will play on all players.
You should have a manual that will tell you what will be compatable with your stand alone.

My Toshiba will not play DVD+R but will play DVD-R

my son has a player that will play both.

It may not be Verbatim vs. TDK rather then DVD+R vs. DVD-R the +and- seems to make more of a difference but a different brand may also have somthing to do with it too.

Dont feel bad on scraping discs that has happened to the best of us. It is all part of the learing and figuring out what will work for you.
