Slow Burn Speed

Hi, I have recently noticed that I can only burn DVDs at 4x when I could previously burn them at 8x. Can anyone suggest what may have changed this? I have updated my firmware, I have a Pioneer DVR-107D, to version 1.22 and it worked fine after this update for about 3 weeks, and now I can only burn at 4x. I am using Nero and DVD decrypter.
