bad media can do that you may need to back them up again from the original. you may want to try Verbaitm you may also want to burn at a slwoer speed 4X max.

I have not used Taiyo Yuden but many people here say there are great.
I have used Verbatims not with DL yet but I would imagine that the quality will be the same. I have never had any problems with them not lasting.

But then again how long will any DVD relly last? That is yet to be know as DVD's really have not been out that long to really know how long one will last. If you stay with the higher quality DVD's you should not have a problem.

no that would be a case of bad media. Burning too fast can play a role in that as well.

I suggest using those Memorex blanks for Christmas tree ornaments, they look great twinkling in the candlelight....then go pick up some Sony's, or Taiyo Yuden ( as mentioned ), or Verbatim.

I had bought a stack of Memorex not knowing the difference, and on my machine they worked pretty good, 8 out of 10 successful. On a friend of mine's PC, he was hit and miss, just as many failed as successes.

Verbatims are considered premium along with the TYs and they will stand the test of time.

Sticky labels most likely are your main cause, added to the poor media and you have the formula of outright failures of the discs.

Lable wont really hurt the media but a lot of players can not read them well with them on. And of the DVD gets too hot when the DVD is playing they have been known to come off in the player and harm the player.

I would not use the lables either.

I can t belive i missed that, if you have lables on the discs carefully and slwoely remove the lable they may play fine. Be sure to get all of the adhesive off. I had an issure with this a long time ago you may want to look at this old thread.

It would not hut to reburn them but for now as long as they play good.
In the long run you may want them on better media.

I did the same thing a couple years ago. I backed up like 5 movies and when I was finished backing them up I tested in my DVD player. The a few weeks later I made nice lables for them.

When putting one in the player it did not play. Once I removed the lables they played again. My very first thought was OMG do they only last a week.
Needless to say I never put a lable on a disc again. And all was well.

glad to see it worked out for you.
