I recently read blutach's "Media/Player Compatibility" link. It said that the DVD player I am about to purchase plays both DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW, etc. The question I have is will it play these types of media from all different types of manufacturers? I have heard from some of my friends that their players play some -R's like Verbatim and TY's, but not Fuji or Memorex. They play fine in my cheap DVD player. Thanks.

It will play the different types. The problem comes with reliability in regards to the media ID and the burning process. If it's a good burn it should be read with no problems.
