    all of them coasters!!

Hi..can someone please translate this Nero log for me. I have Fuji 16X DVD-R's and every single one, and I'm not exagerating, every single one turns into a coaster. I've gone through about 30 of them now so I thought I'd post the last Nero log. If anyone can help me, please let me know. Thanks....

    here's the log....

In my opinion there are two probable causes:

    1) these media are really bad (and they are not the best for sure if these fuji are not made in Japan)
    2) this firmware (you use the one modified by C0deKing, isn't it?) don't manage correctly these media.

    You can do two things:

    1) Restore the original firmware to see if this solve
    2) Try a different media.

      Nero Version: 6.6.0.13
Update your version of Nero to 6.6.0.18. Download Nero version 6.6.0.18 here: http://www.digital-digest.com/~jmet/...0.18_no_yt.exe

      Recorder: <LITE-ON SOHW-1693S DVDRW>Version: KC4B
      Update your firmware <a href="http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2056" target="_blank">here</a>.

You might want to try burning at 4X, then move up in speed from there until you encounter a error.

Updating firmware may resolve this problem. Basically Nero is saying your DVD writer doesn't like that brand of media.

      Existing drivers:
      File 'Drivers\InCDfs.SYS': Ver=4, 3, 12, 0, size=99200 bytes, created 1/27/2005 7:08:02 PM (InCD4 driver for win NT/2K/XP)
      File 'Drivers\InCDpass.SYS': Ver=4, 3, 12, 0, size=28928 bytes, created 1/27/2005 7:07:34 PM (InCD4 driver for win NT/2K/XP)
      File 'Drivers\InCDrec.SYS': Ver=4, 3, 12, 0, size=8704 bytes, created 1/27/2005 7:08:08 PM (InCD4 driver for win NT/2K/XP)
Get rid of InCD! It will only cause problems when burning DVD's. Use Nero's InCD Clean Tool, which is located <a href="http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/Clean_Tools.html" target="_blank">here</a>.

geno...yes..that is the firmware from C0deking,I thought if I used that firmware that these disks might actually work..I guess I was wrong. Let me ask you a question..I went out and got TDK's and Sony's that are made in Japan, so should I just keep the firmware that I got?? Thank you for the help.

Nero version is out of the bible, update to 6.6.0.18 here.

          LITE-ON SOHW-1693S DVDRW>Version: KC4B
Are you using modified firmware? Current version at RPC1 shows KSOB here.

          Burn process started at 8x (11,080 KB/s)

Reduce your burn speed to 4X, burning too fast can create problems.

          TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND)
          Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR)
It seems that your burner doesn't like your discs, firmware could fix this error.

          File 'Drivers\InCDfs.SYS': Ver=4, 3, 12, 0, size=99200 bytes, created 1/27/2005 7:08:02 PM (InCD4 driver for win NT/2K/XP)
          File 'Drivers\InCDpass.SYS': Ver=4, 3, 12, 0, size=28928 bytes, created 1/27/2005 7:07:34 PM (InCD4 driver for win NT/2K/XP)
          File 'Drivers\InCDrec.SYS': Ver=4, 3, 12, 0, size=8704 bytes, created 1/27/2005 7:08:08 PM (InCD4 driver for win NT/2K/XP)
When installing the Nero update omit the InCD package, it is known to cause conflicts.

EDIT: Man you guys are quick, but I'm hanicapped on my laptop....LOL Harder to navigate.

I saw very brilliant results with this firmware, but too bad the only way to answer to this question is to do some try.

Keep in mind that liteon drives have a feature that allow them to "learn" from previous burnings, but this feature need at least 4-5 burnings to work correctly. Using good quality media is a good rule for sure.

I agree also with jmet suggestions. I don't like packet writing softwares like InCD, because they gave to me only problems.

Sometimes also reflashing the firmware can solve issues.

Another thing that can be useful for you is a reset of the eeprom, to delete learnt media. Resetting learnt media can be your solution because maybe in your drive there are learnt media with the official firmware, and maybe your burner need to redo all learnings with the patched firmware.

See here regarding erase learnt media

Finally, you can try the official liteon firmware, KS0B is latest version and you can find it here
