    Hoping for Burn Fail help!

Thanks in advance - I am really stumped on this one!
I visit this forum frequently, its an awesome source of information.
I exhausted searches and solutions with this problem so I hope someone can suggest
    something!
Problem: I can't burn ANY DVDs.
I have an HP Media Center m400y running XP SP2 MCE 2005.
My DVD+R burner is an HP 400c.
I use DVDshrink 3.2 and Nero Burning ROM 6.6.1.4. I sometimes use other things like DVD Decrypter.
Sometime since I upgraded my harddrive it stopped burning DVDs.
The drive burns CDs no problem, reads DVDs no problem - but whenever I try to burn DVD+R it fails pretty quickly.
The harddrive upgrade was simply - put new drive in, restore system from HP restore DVDs,apply updates from HP and Microsoft.
After searching this forum I attempted to fix the problem by doing these things (in order):
    1. Got better DVD+R media - no help
    2. updated Nero software - no help
    3. Updated HP driver - no help
    4. Updated HP firmware - no help
    5. Added a second DVD+R recorder (HP 200j) - it wont burn either!
I still can't burn DVDs - either drive (the 200j WAS working in the machine I pulled it from).
Which has me thinking this is a windows or OS problem. I guess it could be some other kind of hardware issue, DMA,
or a number of things I dont understand!
I converted about 20 DVD blanks into coasters today, please help!
Here is a copy of my last log when trying to burn a DVD from a .iso image.
I have other logs prior to doing each of the "upgrades" as well if thats useful.
    THANK YOU!

something tells me that your new, but old firmware(Tue Dec 14, 2004)
doesn't support the new media you are trying to burn with, it's not 16x is it?

    the 200 is even older

      media

I've been trying 4x DVD+R (sony), 4x DVD+RW(fuji), and 16x DVD+R(tdk). Mind you, all three of these (same batches) worked fine a few months ago when I last successfully burned.
One thing else I noticed since my post -
In my hardware device manager - I seem to have duplicate entries for

      Primary Controller
      Secondary Controller
      Ultra ATA storgae controllers

There are two of each. I found this while I was pursuing some other ideas I saw posted here about DMA.

      thanks!

        And (200j)

I just stuck the 200j in to see if it might burn something at least - to rule out the 400c drive hardware.

I was planning to go buy a new DVD+/- drive tomorrow to solve the problem (I've been wanting a +/- drive anyways and Frys has a great deal on a Pioneer 16x - but now I am worried that this won't correct the problem at all.
What are your thoughts on that as a solution?

Remove all dup's and reboot(both instances)

uninstall or update the intel application accelerator?

why such an old? dvd burner in such a newer computer?

be sure PAT's not on in bios

            I did

Remove all dup's and reboot(both instances)
...did this and they all came back on reboot.

uninstall or update the intel application accelerator?
What is this? Where can I find it?

why such an old? dvd burner in such a newer computer?
I was just testing a working burner in this system. The 400c came in this factory HP setup. This is a 2004 machine - HP m400y P4 HT 2.8.

            PAT's not on in bios
What is PATS and how can I change it? I see nothing like this acronym in the bios.

            Thanks!

              was MCE an upgrade?

                good catch!

Yes, as part of the harddrive upgrade I mentioned I also did the HP/MS provided MCE upgrade from MCE 2004 - 2005. HP Made a CD available for this.
BUT - I had done this on the previous hardrive as well with no noticible difference.
Thanks for the taking the time to look at this. As I asid I dont know what to do next. Any thoughts on me buying a new drive yet?

                  disconnect the hp 200

                  try a burn with ImgBurn

roll back the driver for the ide controllers to ms default if possible

take the 400 burner and try in the other computer first, I just lay the drive next to the open case and connect cables
