    More Dual Layer issues

    Happy Sunday all;

    Here's my new question/issue for DL's.

It seems that when watching DL's there are some "lockup's",BUT then after repeated viewings the issue will clear up?????

I was backing up Harry Potter, and it started locking up when viewing, but it cleared up later in the disc???? Usually once my disc's start locking up it's at the end of the disc (single layer).
Maybe this is a problem that surfaces around the layer change, and thens will smooth out once past it?

    Anyone experienced this issue?

Right now i'm burning Ritek+R DL's at the only speed allowed (2.4).
    Pioneer 110D burner.

    Using DVD95Copy.

(so far fab shrink and nero have given nothing but failed burns with DL for me).

Plus haven't figured out yet how to set a layer change and use imgburn for DL's arrrgghhh.

    Regards
    K

Try ripping to HDD first using DVD Decrypter in ISO read mode, then select the MDS file for burning with either DVD Decrypter in ISO write mode or Imgburn. You should burn from the MDS file because it contains the layer break information...these two programs are supposed to be the best at inserting the layer break, superior to the ones you listed as using, but as I'm too cheap to buy DL discs, I'm not commenting from personal experience.

Thought Ritek's were among the best as well as Verbatim?

Ritek at one time were considered good media, but as of late their quality has waned...especially with the DL media. Right now Verbatim is the top dog with regards to DL media, and very close to the top of the heap in SL media.

Easy blu....you're right ,but I thought that Ritek's would be good too.

They're not much less than verbs, and we all know prices are already dropping.

I think DL verbs are about $2.50 whereas Ritek's were about $2 from Meritline.

I've had success with the Ritek's,but if problems continue...I will change over to the verbs with only a 50 cent difference(if I can afford my next batch.

Gave up on Ritek DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL. Horrible media. Verbs DVD-R DL are approx. $4 a piece. Pricey indeed... but never a worry.

Somewhat outdated doc yes? What with ImgBurn 1.3.0 out PgcEdit doesn't even reference that app (ImgTool Classic) anymore.

Will be referering to this doc shortly as I'm gonna give it a go...

Yes newer versions of PgcEdit come with a more advanced version of mikisof.exe than ImgTool has, use it.if you use imgburn just substitute ImgBurn for dvdd. it works very well to follow the program, and i have had success with it. The last note about PgcEdit if you use an op system <=ME, you will probably have problems running it. time to upgrade to xp.
If you use these forums you will not have to face that...
