Changing DVD DL +R to DVD-ROM

    Hi,

I want to bitsett Verbatim DVD DL +R discs to DVD-ROM.

I have I/O Magic internal DVD+-RW/+-R drive (IDVD16DD) which supports bitsetting but DVDD and Imgburn do not support this drive. The DVDbitSet software given with the drive does not recognize DL media.

When I used Nero and DVDD to show me the manufacturer of my drive, all they show is 16X DVD +-RW/+-R. Infact this is how my drive is identified by all the softwares.

How can I bitsett with this drive. Any advice will be highly appreciated. THANKS!

You can get Nero Speed and set the bitsetting with that. Run CD Speed and under the EXTRA menu you will see a menu for bitsetting. Try that and get back to us.

If I use Nero speed to set it, can I burn with Imgburn because Nero gives DL burn problems. Sorry if the question is stupid as I am a newbee. Thanks.

I use Nero Speed to set the bitsetting, and ImgBurn to burn, so you'll be fine. Nero Speed only sets the DVD Recorder bitset. Once set you don't need to change it again with few exceptions (I believe some Sony recorders remove the bitsetting when the tray cycles).

ImgBurn has provisions for changing the booktype also.

Sorry Night. I see you already pointed this out.

                  Hi,

Thanks all for your kind replies.

                  1) But when I use Nero, it picks up the disc type as DL+R but does not give me the choice of changing the book type to DVD-ROM. However, it lets me change the booktype of +R and +RW media to DVD-ROM. Can a drive selectively allow changing of booktypes?

                  2) If I use Imgburn and select Benq as my drive as suggested by NightTran but the drive turns out to be not Benq, no harm will be done, right?

                  Thanks again.

Yeah, just a question about that - I burned two Verbatim DLs in ImageBurn that I made, and the booktype was DVD-ROM. But in my mom's car player, it gives me this "invalid disc" error. It SHOULD show up as a not-burned DVD, right?
