    DVD Burners don't recognize a CD-R blank

I saw this somewhere here, I think , did a search "dvd burner doesn't see CD-R blank".
Have both the NEC 3550A and the BenQ dw 1655 LS and both burners will not recognize a blank CD-R when inserted to burn small data files or save when using download mgr. Work around??

Exactly - except I didn't down load anything new. Just added 2 new burners. On the old Pioneer burner A07d that died, whenever I wanted to save a "file" on to a CD - I just pop it in and the balloon in Windows XP says it's time to burn some files, burn and I'm good.
