    problem with Nero ....

I have nero 6614 yes the one with all the problems....I have 2 gigs of ram and the 3200 AMD processer with video card of 5900 Nvidia with window xp for home use.

Most of my problems started with the new version but at the same time I remember that I had problems with the old version as well.....

Currently Most of the time I can not get thru the initial burn process before we even start to copy the disc...but what is amazing is that some discs copy very easily....this is really wierd.. ...I am wondering whether it is that my machine now only can copy minus's....I have an nec 3520A ////

My logs seem to be different each time so I am not sure what is up....I do appreciate your time in this...thanks...the first one is a reading disc....I think....LOL... also I would like to know if just copying it to hard drive and then trying to burn it might work better...I do not know how to copy it to hard drive... By the way these discs are allowed to be copied I think...they are kind of self help discs....

Turn your DMA on - see link in my signature.

Update your firmware - see here.

Read and implement the Golden Rules of Burning.

My IDE leads me to Nvidia nforce 3 250 parallel ata controller...and when I punch in the primary it does not seem anywhere near what you are showing...the section marked let bios select transfer mode is what comes up....there is a hidden section that says ultra dma 2 but I can not check it...although there is a faint green tint to a check on it...but it seems hidden as well...very strange....

also I forgot to add that I have two of the same things in the IDE section under device manager.....they both say the same thing...is this correct and should I get uninstalll them both?
Nvidia nforce 3 250 parallel ata controller (v2.6)
Nvidia nforce 3 250 parallel ata controller (v2.6)

when I click on the second one on primary channel...it says no device...what should I do with that one....

what is Intel App Accelerator and how do I find out whether it is installed?

I just checked on the web and no I do not have it installed....Would it help?

I tried to uninstall again and once again I found that my DMA is off when I tried unsuccessfully to copy a dvd.... here is what i found though when I rechecked my IDE section on my device manager....

When I opened up IDE/ATA controllers I found the two sites listed below....I did what I was supposed to do regarding my DMA by deleting the first manager and robooting it...

Nvidia nforce 3 250 parallel ata controller (v2.6)
Nvidia nforce 3 250 parallel ata controller (v2.6)

I was unable to get rid of the second one because it wanted me to do reboot after the first one....so I rebooted and when I went back to check with the primary and secondary channels...i found some more wierdness

the primary channel had as its main version
                  WDC WD 1200JB-99EVA0
the secondary channel had as its master drive
                  NEC DVD_RW BD-35201
and the secondary channel had as its slave drive
                  Samsung CD-R/RW SW-252F

I am not sure what the WDC is in the primary channel? IS it supposed to be there and what is going on? I hope someone Can help me.....because this is getting wierd....the two sites in the secondary channel are ones that I am familiar with as I have a dvd burning NEC and a CD burning Samsung

                  thanks for all your help

I have xp with NVIDIA video card 5900 and have 2 GIGS Ram and 80 GIGS Of hard drive space available. I Hope someone can help me...

Firmware link from Blutach is not working

I have been trying the firmware link on how to install firmware and it I can not get it to work.....Is there another link I can use?

I have also called nero and they said that they do not know why I can not get the DMA to become operational ...they are going to have an expert call me back. I am not very hopefull ...at this point I may try to do use another down load maybe the dycripting software....but not sure if this will work with the DMA problems solved....

I am having the same problem with an nforce 2 board using the nvatabus ide drivers as well.

I found one guy who had this problem where Nero would report DMA: off but it would still show as being ON under device manager.

What he did was to uninstall the Nvidia IDE drivers only in Add/Remove Programs, reboot and let Windows reinstall it's own IDE drivers.

YMMV - I haven't tried this yet myself - still at work after discovering it a few minutes ago. I actually found this thread on google researching my problem.
