The burner is on a firewire
not sure a flash would find it either, but then there's usb, shoot!
    How fast does it burn(time)?
I'd try an 8x on both interfaces and monitor task manager cpu use

you might test straight rip with shrink of a burned disk over the 2 interfaces to see if there's any speed advantage

Tried USB. No read. The disk I burned playes just fine. Burner is listed in My Computer and Divice Manager. However iks is listed via USB as a Mass Storage Device. Via firewire it was liste as the burner. Don't know if means anything, but I had my external HD on the USB while I burned.
Is Nero and Info tool supposed to test on an external burner?
            Thanks

I did some checking and found out that LG's don't support a qualioty disk scanning(Nero CD Speed or INfo Tool) However, using DVD Identifier worked.

Yes. I had to turn off, as per their instructions, all firewall and antivirus software. I haven't had my coffee yet. I'm hooked!!!!

All done. New firmware Ver.A105 is in.
As always, thank you for your time and energies.
